The USA is filled with romantic getaways to visit with your partner. These are some of my favorite places to travel with my spouse. Add these to your list for your next romantic weekend.
Bar Harbor, Maine
Bar Harbor is the perfect destination if you are looking for a casual long weekend with your partner. It is the quaintest, little New England coastal town. Shops line the streets, everything in the city is walkable, and there are some great restaurants to enjoy for a scrumptious dinner.
Stay at the West Street Hotel in Bar Harbor. It is such a beautiful hotel, and it is a great location. It has harbor views, and you can easily walk downtown to the shops and restaurants. The rooms are luxurious, even down to the shower products. They are NEST products, and if you have ever used any of their products then you know what I am talking about.
There are so many things to do here with your partner as well, like have a spa day at the Harborside Hotel Spa, take a lighthouse boat tour, or visit Acadia National Park for the most beautiful scenery.
There are also plenty of great restaurants for the foodie in the relationship. Some of our favorites were Galyn’s, Stewman’s Lobster Pound, and Side Street Cafe. You must order the lobster enchiladas from Galyn’s and the blueberry pie from Side Street Cafe. These are some of my favorite and most unique meals I have ever had. You will not be disappointed.
Bar Harbor is a very casual, friendly town so there is no need to dress up or look fancy. It is perfect for a laid back weekend, and if you have a little pooch in your life, feel free to bring them because Bar Harbor is one of the dog friendliest towns I have ever been to.
Big Cedar Lodge, Ridgedale Missouri
Most people think of Big Cedar Lodge as a family resort and true, it is very family friendly, but it is also perfect for a couples trip. Everything you could want to do is right on property so you never have to leave the resort. It is a perfect destination for any time of the year.
This resort has many different accommodation types and price points. They have lodge rooms, cottages, cabins, houses, and even glamping. There is an endless choice of room types. You can have a different experience each time you come, even if you have been many times already.
Big Cedar is filled with many amazing restaurants: Devil’s Pool, Worman House, Uncle Buck’s, Truman Cafe, and Buzzard Bar. At the Top of the Rock on property there are also several other restaurants: Osage, Arnie’s Barn, and Buffalo Bar or just stay in your room and order their amazing room service. I have eaten at all of them, and they are fantastic.
Cedar Creek Spa is the nicest spa I have ever been to. Book yourself a couples massage and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this amazing spa.
In the summer months, you can rent a boat at Bent Hook Marina and enjoy a day on Table Rock Lake, swim in one of the numerous pools on property, fish, lay out on the “sandy beach” on the lake, paddle board, and so much more.
During the winter, they have numerous Christmas activities, make s’mores, sit around the campfire and listen to music, or tour the amazing lights around the property.
A visit up to the Top of the Rock is amazing as well. They have a beautiful golf course that hosts PGA golfers every year. It is stunning. There is also an amazing golf cart cave tour that offers incredible views. This is a must do.
I highly recommend adding Big Cedar to your list of romantic getaways.
Asheville, North Carolina
Asheville is a beautiful town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains so the views in this town are endless which makes it a perfect romantic getaway for two.
If you are a food loving couple, then Asheville is for you. It was voted the number 1 “foodie” town in the USA for 2022. There are so many amazing restaurants in the city, but some that are definitely worth checking out are Tupelo Honey, Limones, Edison at Omni Grove Park Inn, and Bouchon. There are so many, but I just can’t list them all. Asheville has tons of breweries and distilleries as well.
Stay in a romantic treehouse at Earth and Sky Dwellings, or if you want more of a resort feel, then I highly suggest Omni Grove Park Inn. This sprawling resort has amazing views, tons of activities, restaurants, and a spa on-site.
Asheville is filled with many things to do as well. You can tour the amazing historic Biltmore Estate, take a romantic, scenic drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, shop at many cute boutiques in downtown Asheville and the Biltmore Village or go wine tasting in Hendersonville.
Asheville is the perfect place for a romantic getaway with your partner so don’t forget to add this destination to your list.
Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is full of southern charm, and it is an amazing, big-little city in the South. It is so full of history, charm, southern food and an amazing nightlife scene.
Stay at Charleston Place, a beautiful hotel in the French Quarter District or for a budget friendlier option, then the Mills House is also a great option.
Charleston is another foodie town, and it truly has the most amazing southern food. I am from the South so I love all of this food, but they also have a great seafood scene as well. Some of my favorite restaurants are Magnolias, Husk, Poogan’s Porch, Halls Chophouse, and The Obstinate Daughter. You seriously can’t go wrong with any of these choices because the food and atmosphere are awesome at all of them.
This town is so full of history, legends and myths. Explore the historic homes in the city, take a ghost tour, a food tour, shop on King’s street, or see the iconic landmarks of Charleston like the Pineapple Fountain, Rainbow Row, Fort Sumter, or the Ravenel Bridge.
Charleston also has a big nightlife scene. If that is your thing then you may want check out the bars on King Street or Market Street. If you are familiar with the TV show Southern Charm on Bravo, then you have probably heard of Republic which had a spinoff show called Southern Hospitality. It is a neat spot to check out.
If you are looking for a relaxing day, take a quick day trip out to Sullivan’s Island for a relaxing beach day. Charleston is full of things to do. Add this destination to your list.
