Everything you need to know about Sea Island Beach Club and Resort
Overview
Sea Island Beach Club and Resort is located in the idyllic town of St. Simon’s Island in Georgia, known for being part of the infamous Golden Isles.
Sea Island is a private beach club available only to guests of the resort, lodges, or cottages on property or to members of Sea Island Beach Club. Sea Island is a gated community of hotels, beautiful homes, the beach club and more. If you are staying off property and are not a member of the beach club, then the only way to experience Sea Island is to be a friend or family of someone who is a member and they can provide you with a temporary guest pass for a small fee.
It is a beautiful, exclusive beach club with many lodging options, restaurants, on site activities, golf and much more. So we will break all of that down next.
Lodging
There are many different options to choose from when it comes to staying at Sea Island. From hotel rooms to beautiful 4 bedroom homes, there is something that will fit everyone’s needs.
The Inn at Sea Island
Let’s start with the Inn at Sea Island. This is the most affordable option, but it is really just a place for the golf lover to stay because staying in this hotel does NOT give you access to the beach club. It is not inside the gated area of Sea Island. It is across the road, but it does have shuttle and trolley service into Sea Island.
To have access to Sea Island’s three championship golf courses then you will need to book the Sea Island Golf Package. You can also have access to some of Sea Island resort’s dining and fitness for a fee.
The Inn does have it’s own pool and is dog friendly.
My opinion is if you are looking to experience more of the beach club and all of the amenities that come with that, then this hotel is not the best option because it does not allow access to that.
The Cloister
The Cloister is probably the most popular spot to stay in Sea Island. There are three different areas to this resort: the main building and wings, ocean residences and the beach club
If you are staying at any part of The Cloister then you have full access to everything located within the Sea Island Beach Resort area:
The Main Building has 4 different suite types: The Cloister Suite, The River Suite. Both of these are the more hotel room feel. They are beautiful, luxurious rooms that come in 2 queens or 1 King. The presidential suites are the Sea Island Suites. These are expansive at 1700 square feet and have 1 King bed. The biggest of the suites is the Black Banks Suite which is a two bedroom suite at 2200 sq ft with one 1 king and 2 queen beds.
The Cloister Main Building Wings also have different rooms types. These rooms are smaller than the main building rooms, most of them averaging around 500-700 square feet with one king or two queens. The wings also offer one and two bedroom suites as well.
The Cloister Sea Island Beach Club is another part of the Cloister that is home to many different room options. These rooms range from ocean view standard rooms to one and two bedroom suites. Prices will vary based on the view. The rooms are all a great location as they are right there next to the Sea Island Beach Club where the pools and the majority of the restaurants are.
The Cloister Ocean Residences is another area of this resort. The ocean residences give you seclusion in a private, gated enclave with its own oceanfront infinity pool. The rooms here range from your typical (although luxurious) hotel room with 1 king or 2 queens to one, two and three bedroom suites.
The Lodge
The Lodge consists of a beautiful, private hotel and amazing cottages. The Lodge is not located inside the gates of the Sea Island Resort, but it is still a part of the Sea Island Resort. It is about 5 miles away from the main beach club, but there are shuttles and trolley service offered between both. The Lodge does have access to all of Sea Island resort though, including the beach club.
The Lodge is what I would call more of the golf resort. It is surrounded by all of the amazing golf courses that Sea Island has to offer. It is stunningly beautiful from the moment you walk in. The Lodge has its own pool and restaurants there as well that anyone staying anywhere on property can access.
The Lodge has several room types as well. Standard rooms to suites are all located in the main building. There are also 2 to 4 bedroom cottages that you may choose as well.
Sea Island Cottages
There are also many cottages that you can choose from as well. We did learn that all of the homes located within Sea Island are called cottages. Even though some are far from a cottage (haha). Some of these homes are gorgeous mansions that look like they came right out of a Southern Living magazine ad.
We met a very helpful lady at the membership office that explained that the cottages are all privately owned and if they choose to “rent” them out then they must go through the Sea Island membership and website. So you can search directly on the Sea Island website under cottages by how many bedrooms, location, building, etc. These cottages do come with a guest membership pass, so you will have full beach club and resort access.
Restaurants
Now enough about the accommodations and let’s talk about the most important part of any vacation…the food.
There are about 15 options for dining on property and I will list them below and where they are located.
At the Cloister
Georgian Rooms (American Grill), Tavola (Italian), River Bar and Lounge (Bar with European Style Dishes),
At the Lodge
Colt & Allison (Classic Southern Steakhouse), Oak Room (Cozy, Southern Favorites) Men’s Locker Room (For gentlemen only-small bites, cigar room and a bar) Pool and Halfway House (American)
At the Beach Club
Southern Tide (Seafood), Sea Strike and Pub (Bowling alley and American food), Wonderland (Sweets and Treats), Snack Shack (American), Beach Club and Pool (poolside food and beverage surface)
At St. Simon’s Island
The Market (breakfast, sandwiches, grab and go and fresh baked goods)
There is also in room dining available at all lodging options.

The Beach Club
The beach club is the hub of this amazing resort and likely where you will spend most of your time. There are 3 pools located here: A huge family pool, a splash pad and waterslide pool, and an adults only pool (21 and up). All of the pools are fantastic and have poolside wait service.
The beach is also steps from the pools and has complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas and wait service on the beach as well. Don’t forget to tip your servers. They are working extremely hard to make your vacation special and relaxing.
