Travel With Me to Wyoming

This trip has been, by far, one of my absolute favorites yet. We did everything from hiking in National Parks to cowboying it up at the local rodeo! Jackson Hole has been and will always be one of our family’s favorite destinations in the U.S. Want to go to a place you’ll never want to leave? Well, here it is. Travel with me to Wyoming for an unforgettable experience!

Wyoming has a “home away from home” feel, and we were living for it. Today, I’m sharing all the details about our trip to Wyoming. So, it’s time to grab a drink and kick up your boots because I’ve got tons of travel tips and updates for you!

In Jackson Hole, we stayed at The Lodge for the first 4 days, then moved to Yellowstone for the next 5 nights. While here, we explored Jackson and Grand Teton National Parks since they were only 10 minutes away from each other. If you plan to travel here and experience the West at its peak…this is the place to go!

The Lodge has a heated indoor/outdoor pool, concierge services, and in-room fireplaces and is only about 1 mile down the road from the historic Town Square.

Considering a vacation in the Winter instead? The Lodge has the best setup to keep you warm and just so happens to be a Ski Resort!

Wyoming | Grand Teton National Park

There is no shortage of fun here in Wyoming, with tons to do. But here is my personal list of must-do’s in Grand Teton.

Starting off strong, we hiked Taggart Lake Trailhead and spotted some of the most beautiful sights in the country. It was an easy-to-moderate hike and definitely worth the view! I am not an experienced hiker by any means, but I loved it! Another lake with stunning views and multiple hiking trails is Jenny Lake.

Have you ever seen a Moose in person? They are about 10 times bigger than you can imagine! On our Wildlife Tour with Grizzly Country Adventures, we spent half a day riding in an SUV over the river and through the park. They drove us through the Teton mountains and mighty Snake River, showing us just about every large and small animal you can imagine!

Although the water’s freezing, that didn’t stop us from taking a Float Trip with Solitude. We got to learn and experience Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole’s history, wildlife, and more. All while in a raft on Snake River. It was a relaxing and smooth two-hour trip down the river. An experience I’ll never forget.

Wyoming | Best Eats in Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole Square is the center hub of this marvelous mountain town. This is probably what you think of when you think of Jackson Hole….the infamous Antler Arches are located here!

Here is a list of some of my favorite places to eat right on the square (or just off of it). They all only use local ingredients and are unique in their own way. Each will make your experience unforgettable!

  • Local Restaurant & Bar
    • The best steaks and burgers I have ever had!
  • Merry Piglets
    • Craving some Tex-Max? This is the perfect spot for some casual Mexican food.
  • The Bunnery Bakery & Restaurant
    • An easy grab-and-go breakfast before a busy day of adventuring.
  • Cafe Genevieve
    • Amazing brunch spot in a beautiful historic cabin.
  • Glorietta
    • Homemade Italian food…but with a twist!
  • Snake River Grill
    • All the American food you can eat in a log cabin with a fireplace and bar. If you’re looking for a cozy feel, this is the place for you.
  • Million Dollar Cowboy Bar
    • Otherwise known as Wyoming’s landmark watering hole. It’s a great place to eat and have fun late at night, listening to amazing live music!

Wyoming | Yellowstone National Park

When considering your trip to Yellowstone, plan to stay about 3-4 days inside the park. It rests on 2.2 million acres and takes nearly 3 hours of driving to get halfway across the ranch! It’s HUGE! There was quite a bit of construction surrounding the park as well. So, plan to spend lots of time in the car.

These are some of the most iconic must-dos in Yellowstone for your future trip!

No matter how good your camera is, nothing will compare to the views here. At Roosevelt Arch, you can explore the inside of the monument. See my first picture for our recreation of the Beatles album cover at this Arch! My favorite one is Artist Point at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. It’s so magical! Due to its popularity, I recommend getting there early for less crowds.

Lamar Valley is an absolute must for wildlife! This is where I got this breathtaking picture of a buffalo. There were tons of them, along with a few grizzlies and a pack of wolves. Definitely plan to go early, like 5AM early, for your best chance at seeing the wildlife and be prepared for that highway construction. Another spot for wildlife is Hayden Valley.

Old Faithful is another very well-known and iconic spot in the park. Yes, it is for tourists, but everyone needs to see this at least once. The woodworking is incredible! And don’t forget about the Old Faithful Inn located right beside it. Neither is to be missed.

Cody, Wyoming

After we visited Yellowstone, we took a day trip to Cody, Wyoming, and I have another list of things you must do while in this small country town.

Old Trail Town is a fun, historical site where you can go in and explore century-old cabins, like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. See the picture on the right….what a natural model he is! Fun fact: William F. Cody (aka Buffalo Bill) was responsible for laying out the original town site of Cody, Wyoming, so it was named in his honor.

Before we hit the local rodeo, we stopped to eat at a small family-owned restaurant called Michael’s Tacos and had some of the best salsa I have ever tasted.
